If you've seen Poppy (dead or alive) please let me know - I need to know what's happened to her even if it's not good news.
Poppy aka Pop Pops has been with me for about 2½ years, since she was 8 weeks old. At about 18 months old she had a litter of 4 kittens - 3 of them stayed with us and the other went to live with my sister. She was a wonderful mum, until the kittens were 7 months old and I had Poppy spayed. After that she started pushing them away, and eventually got to the point where she couldn't stand them near her. This caused a bit of tension in our home (5 cats altogether), but I tried very hard to ensure that Poppy had plenty of time with me away from the kittens and lots and lots of fuss. She started spending a little more time outdoors and less time at home, though whenever she was home with me she was still very loving and seemed happy as long as the little ones stayed out of her way (which they had learned to do pretty much). A couple of times she went "missing" but only for a day or two at the most, and always seemed pleased to see me when she came home. Then at the beginning of September I went away for the weekend, leaving a couple of friends staying in my home with the cats (they know my cats well and the cats were quite comfortable with them). They saw Poppy on the Friday morning (3rd September), but not for the rest of the weekend, and I haven't seen her since. One of my neighbours is sure she saw her outside the pub where we live about two weeks after she went missing (she just presumed that she'd returned home so didn't say anything to me until a couple of days later), but I didn't see her and nobody's seen any sign of her at all since then.
