Our rescued, former Turkish street cat went out in the early hours of Monday morning, 19th November, through the cat flap, and did not return.
Raphael is very shy and timid, and he may have been chased away by a larger, aggressive tomcat, or frightened by a dog barking The weather was ATROCIOUS, with torrential rain, for week after week after week, and I think Raphael may have simply gone too far and lost his bearings, and the heavy rain washed away his own "body tracking scent" that cats leave with their paw pads as they walk along. Later on, we had a cold snap with snow, which lasted a week or so.
He slept on our bed. He licked our hands when we stroked him! He is such a darling, sweet lad, such a gentle, affectionate soul. He loves other cats and is very friendly towards them - NOT in the least aggressive, either towards humans OR other cats!!! Raphie LOVES his wet food. In Turkey, he was fed almost exclusively on dry kibble, and he WOLFED down all the different types of wet food we gave him!
I am desolate. I am very, very worried about my sweet little Turkish Prince, my beloved Raphael. The weather has been atrocious, the very worst time of year for a little cat to go missing! His fur was quite thin, as he came from +35C to +12C, in mid-October. He waited so long in Turkey before he could travel to us, 5 and 1/2 months, and then the actual journey took five days and nights as the van Raphie travelled in (together with a dozen or so rescued Turkish street dogs going to their forever homes in England) drove overland, the whole way, through nine different countries, including Turkey and England!
Raphie was very happy here and he settled in remarkably quickly, especially in view of the fact that he was a semi-feral street cat originally and had fended for himself on the streets of Avsallar, Antalya Province, Turkey, for ca 2 and 1/2 years before he was rescued. I feel quite distraught and I am unable to let go of this, in spite of the fact that he has now b een missing for 11 and 1/2 weeks. All I want is for my darling wee fur lad to be found hale and safe and returned to us!
