Tufter is extremely friendly and easy to approach / handle. In fact
he tends to follow people around, miaowing at them and trying to get into their houses. He is very easy to bribe with prawns or salmon. He's allowed to eat whatever he likes whenever he likes because he's a skinny old man who never seems to gain weight.

On Wednesday 22nd February at 6am, he followed my housemate down to the bus stop at the bottom of the hill, then turned and started trotting back up. But he never came back to eat his breakfast that day or since.

All his life he has never strayed far from home. It's very unusual for him to be away for a few hours, let alone days, and he usually announces himself by miaowing all the way through the garden and into the house until someone answers. When he can't find anyone, he trots up to the local vet and they call me on my mobile to let me know.

His body hasn't been picked up by the street cleaners or the vet and no-one has phoned the number on his collar. A few people along Albert Avenue saw my leaflets and got in touch to say they saw him on Wednesday, but no-one has seen him since that day.

Given how much he likes talking to people, I'm concerned that he
may have gotten trapped in someone's garden and urge all my neighbours to check their outbuildings.
Or perhaps someone has taken him in and hasn't realised that my phone number is on his collar.

On the other hand, if he has had an accident, I just need to know so I can move on.
I have no anger, just a desperation to find out what happened.
