Barney
Barney comes to my house
Because he likes the food
A bit unkempt that longhair
And he's always in a mood!
There is a choice of dishes
Beef, chicken or tuna
Sometimes they're half-empty
An' he wishes he'd got 'ere sooner
He's lived in the village a long time
He may be in his 'teens
But that doesn't stop old Barney
He's always full of beans
We've reached an understanding
To which we've both agreed
I can attempt to groom him
And he can claw at me
When I am in the garden
He curls up in my basket
He really is a nice old cat
'Though he tries to mask it
He has a busy life
With lots of calls to make
Sometimes he gets held up
So, he's often running late
If you mispronounce his name
He really gets upset
He knows you're making fun of him
He's such a clever pet
'Barmey' comes to my house
Because he likes the food
I enjoy his daily visits
With love, from your mate Jude (his minder)
