Kenny's Story - Please Read |
Kenny was lost in a residential area, terraced homes on both
sides of a quiet secondary road, home with wooden fence and small back
garden facing a communal green.
Young Kenny had a rough start in life. I was sorry to see her unloved and not cared for in a home where she wasn't treated right, so I got involved, picked her up from the owners that were eager to let her go, and moved her to a situation that I thought was better but, as it turns out, wasn't better enough. Unfortunately, I had no way of knowing at the time. Let me explain. Kenny was living in a home with two huge dogs who didn't like her and chased her outside barking ferociously, so that for the WHOLE day and night she would be perched on a tree outside her home looking in, only venturing inside to eat off the dogs bowl, as she had no food bowl for herself. I felt love for this creature, and when I asked the owners about the possibility of getting her off their hands they were really happy for me to take her, as their 4 year old had lost interest, and they liked the dogs better! I was happy to help this poor unloved girl. Some people I knew were looking for a cat, and I thought they would be a suitable family for Kenny. As I moved her from one place to the other, I was REALLY tempted to keep her, but as I live in a flat with no outdoor access I thought she might suffer, as she spent all her time outside up til then. The family already had a cat and were looking for a second to keep him company, after their other elderly cat died. They live in a terraced home with quiet outdoor space, and the 2 children living there are over 5, but it turns out they're not supervised a lot. At least this home has no dogs, I thought, and as the family is also taking care of an elderly cat with three legs, they seemed to be nice enough people to animals. They bought her a bed, tray, toy, bowls, and I thought things seemed all right for Kenny, finally, but as it turns out Kenny wasn't really given a chance to adapt to her new home, nor given the peace and quiet she needed to do so. Kenny turned out to be pregnant already at the young age of 9 months, as I
found out once she was in her new home, and no wonder, as her previous
owners left her outside all day and obviously didn't spay her. Although I
felt lumps on her tummy I'm not 100% sure that she is pregnant, the new
people who adopted her didn't have her checked by a vet during the 4 weeks
that she spent there, and didn't allow me to take her to a vet on their
behalf either. As I said, they didn't give her time to adapt to her new
home and were picking her up at every chance, so that Kenny spent her days
hiding under beds, getting some rest at night, when everyone was asleep. Apparently, on the night of her disappearance the woman of the house heard Kenny fighting with another cat outside, and run to pick her up, but Kenny ran off. Possibly she got confused, plus she didn't know the woman that well. I had begged them not to let her outdoors for another couple of weeks, but they did anyway. Also, at the time of her disappearance the senior, disabled resident cat
living in the same house had been using her litter tray and sleeping in
her bed, fact that she found very distressing as she hadn't adapted to him
properly yet, and led her to soil the carpet. Kenny is a really sweet, loving girl, but can be nervous and hide a lot
because of the bad experiences she had with children picking her up (or
trying to) the whole time and big dogs chasing her outside. She will let I spent very short periods of time with Kenny, and still she made me fall head over heels in love with her! During the transportation from one home to the other Kenny behaved really well, wide eyed and worried at first, she responded with slow winking to my baby-talking her, and after that slept all the way on the train! She has a cute way of laying her petite and colourful head down while looking at me with sweetness that is the most charming and feminine pose I've seen in a kitten that young. I have no way of knowing more about this extrememly cute and clever girl,
and unfortunately on the only occasion I was able to visit the family
after a few weeks Kenny lived there, I forgot my camera home. I probably
wouldn't have got a shot anyway, as she was forced into hiding by the kids
the whole time. In a nutshell: |
£ 70 waits for you to do with as you please, as a reward and a thank you for helping me finding this lovely girl. |
| I will post ads at local vets, cat shelters and internet sites. I don't live in Hackney myself, so I can't be putting up posters now, but I will within the week. |
CAN YOU HELP ? |
"I'm worried sick for this fragile, petite, adorable older
kitten girl that didn't have the best start in life,
and just needs peace, quiet and lots of love. If you knew her personally you'd feel the same! Please, please check you backyards, gardens, sheds or garages if you live local to Brownlow Rd or Hackney E8 anywhere, as being shy she might be hiding or delivering her kittens somewhere "safe". I feel totally responsible for her being lost and lonely in a dangerous world and I'm prepared to pay a reward of £ 70 for her return, even if she's not exactly my cat, because from now on she will be. After she's found, and I pray with all my heart she will be, I will either keep her with me or foster her until a suitable, child-free place is found for her through a charity (I have no children, but I live in a second floor flat and she might not like living indoors only). If she's found with kittens, I will foster them until a cat charity finds suitable homes for them. Please, please, please help me find Kenny! I just want to make her happy and make her life as good as she deserves. Getting it right, this time." |
