'Sam' found Oct.2007 - Jan.2008
c2067

Sam, a DSH male ? cat with Green eyes
All Black shiny coat, tummy hangs a bit. Very friendly
Seems to be in good condition. She/he looks healthy.
Hello Sue,
I have good news about the black cat that I called "Sam" for the website. He is reunited with his original owner after 2 and a half years!!

Sam moved in with my neighbour, she was taking care of him, but couldn't really keep him forever because her flatmates didn't approve. She took him to the vet just before christmas because he was limping. At the vet they checked if he was microchiped and as it turned out he was.
They called his owner who lives in South London and the guy was quite surprised. He gave the cat to his sister two and a half years ago who lives in North London, I think Golders Green. The cat must have tried to walk back to his original South London home and got stuck in Primrose Hill.

What an amazing animal! He really didn't look like a stray cat. No one believed me when I claimed that he does not have an owner.

The owner said he is gonna keep him inside for a couple of weeks and so he will probably adapt well to his old new home and not try to walk back to Primrose Hill.
Thank you very much for your help and your advice!!!! You can take "Sam" of the Website now.
I hope he will have a good life. I have to admit I miss him in the neighbourhood.
Kind regards,
Saskia

Tom a 2yr old neutered and chipped DLH male with Yellow eyes
Mainly Grey colouring with a White bib and four White paws.
Thanks for all your help, and i'm glad to tell you that Tom came home on Friday evening at about 12:30. He came through the front window that we had been leaving open since he'd left. He had a tick attached to the top of his head, and scabs which may have been other tics that have now dropped off. i can only asmune he's been leaving in some hedgerows/undergrowth on the fields near our house.
We've taken him to the vet's, to get checked over, and we've wormed him and treated him for flea's.
We are so glad he's back, it's my partners birthday next week and this is the perfect gift!

c2202

Jake a 14mth old DLH neutered and chipped male with Green / Yellow eyes
Tabby/White semi-long hair
Hi Sue, I am pleased to say that Jake has come home.  A neighbour called me at 7:20 am to say that Jake was scratching on his door (my neighbour often lets him in as Jake is so friendly) but was going nuts.  He had kept him in because he did not want him to go missing again until I had picked him up.    Jake is a lot thinner but clean and unmatted so he has been locked away somewhere.  He has done nothing but eat since he arrived home but is now curled up in his basket purring away as if wondering what all the fuss is about.   His sister is also pleased that he is home.   I am now looking to buy a tracker and will put a collar on his so if he wanders off again I'll know where he is. I would just like to thank you for your help and hope that all the missing cats soon find their way back home and those that need a home will find one soon. Thanks again,
Lesley

c1816

Hollie a 5yr old DSH Spayed and Chipped DSH female with Green eyes.
White with Tabby on back ears, and tail. Tabby smudges on
nose.
Missing from the Beachside Caravan Park...
Holly who has been missing since June 8th is now home in Knutsford WA16.

" She was found about 1 mile from our caravan, and I after a couple of weeks I managed to catch her yesterday Sat 26th Jan.
Joy of Joys

I caught her in a garden belonging to the Cats Protection lady, who first saw her in October but we didn't see her and then we have heard nothing until 2 weeks ago. She has been seeing her but not told us.

We were told she was seen by the neighbours opposite after they first saw her just over a fortnight ago coming out of their garden shed. We went down and did see her but couldn't get her, so for the last two weeks they have been feeding her. We took some of the meat she used to eat along with one of her bowls, and a fleece of mine, as she was sleeping in their garden shed (door left wide open), they had been trying to shut her in but not managed it.It took me almost 4 hours talking and sitting with her until I could finally grab her. She was found in Llangorwen, Clarach. less than a mile from where she was lost.
It just proves the point of never giving up. We are still pinching ourselves."

Many thanks for your advice in the past.

Gus a 1yr old entire male Maine Coon with Golden eyes
He is a semi-long-haired Silver tabby with very bushy long tail like a squirrels
Hi Sue     I have got Gussie back!  I had a phone call on Monday night by someone who had seen my posters and thought she had seen G coming and going for two or three weeks. She lived on the other side of the very busy big Bradford Road. I had never dreamt of searching in this area. We went over immediately. I went down a snicket and called him.  He came running to me ! He has  obviously been living off his wits. He is very thin and his fur is all matted; he also had fleas.  I have dealt with all this and he is happily luxuriating in being home again.
Thank you for all your help and support through this terrible ordeal. Love Linda x

Liam 12months (approx) DSH entire male with Greeny Yellow eyes
Black and White: a Large Black and white Tom cat with Jowls, Black on top, White tummy and socks, one Black patch on the inside of his front left leg. White on the bottom half of his face apart from a flame shaped Black patch over his nose.
Sue,
I know Ruth was meaning to email you when she had time - thankfully we found Liam last night!

We had been wandering around putting up posters in the neighbourhood and Ruth had Liam's food bowl and was tapping it with a fork when we heard a loud series of distressed meows coming from a garden - we looked around and I saw Liam's face looking at us from under a side gate - I knew it was him straight away. Ruth tried to open the gate and I knocked on the door with no reply.  The gate was stuck, but we managed to force it and were reunited with our moggie! He was obviously lost (though only a few streets from ours) and very pleased to see us!  -  He's lost some weight and clearly been in a scrap or two and seems to be very hoarse; no doubt as he's been meowing wondering where his humans have gone! He's home and well now and booked in at the Vets for neutering,  He seems very happy to be home, rolling around and eating like there's no tomorrow and cuddling up to us both...  And of course, we are absolutely over the moon. Thanks very much for your support and hopefully you can post our story to keep others hopeful - it was 11 days for us - and in the end, it was just being out in the neighbourhood looking for him that worked for us! Cheers,
Tom

Dear Sue,
I was sitting in the kitchen at the weekend and, somewhat amazingly, Spicey walked through the door! He jumped onto his chair and went to sleep as if nothing had happened. I cannot believe that he has come home. He must have been hiding somewhere because he has lost a lot of weight and is only half the size he was. After eating a hearty meal, he slept for 24 hours and is now back to his old self. He now wakes me up at 4.30 every morning for a cuddle.
Many thanks for your help but the kitty has come home!

Sox a 2yr old neutered and chipped DSH male with Green eyes
a male recently neutered
Black with white feet, chest and chin and has a blue collar with ID and magnet.

"As for my cats....Tom came home just before Christmas and was found at the Bay Horse near the motorway roundabout for Lancaster. He had lost a few pounds (but he probably needed to) but otherwise OK and doing well at home now after his adventure. Anyway we got a call from a vets practice in Garstang. 3 weeks ago and a lady had found Sox in Galgate (less than half a mile from where Tom was found) So now there's no question of an innocent truck hitch-hike up the motorway. I suspect, sadly they were both taken and dumped together by some meanspirited, nasty, person. As it was, Sox showed up in her garden at about the same time Tom did at his rescuers garden just before Christmas and after asking around the neighbouhood about him and giving him a warm place to sleep and food she took him to the Vets as she was going away. They scanned him and found me. I spoke to the lady and she told me she and her husband had formed quite a bond with Sox and would be upset to let him go. I arranged to go and get him from her house, took the cat box with me but also the Pet-Track registration papers just in case! When I tried to stroke him he shyed away and clearly didn't know me anymore. He curled himself around her legs and seemed very content. He had found a home for himself and I knew we'd have to let him go. So after making a positive personal assessment of his potential new owner and home, I knew he'd be happy and it was the right thing to do. She'd had him longer than we had! so I offered Sox's ownership to her and she was over the moon and said she was going to ask me, if I hadn't suggested it. She was an animal lover and already had a cat, a dog and an absolute stunner of a horse in the back garden. Her husband rang from his fishing trip especially to see if they now had a new lodger and I heard him cheer down the phone when she said they had which was endearing. She was willing to pay for him but I didn't accept any money, just knowing he was going to have a great life was enough for me,  She was a lovely lady and invited us to see him anytime and offered to take my daughter Hannah for a ride on her horse. She also sent me away with two frozen trout her husband had caught fishing and teary eyes. This left a hole where we had committed to take on another cat so I remembered Nicky had cheekily made a throw away comment about being a cat fosterer whilst searching for our two errant cats, I gave it further thought and decided it would be a gratifying and hugely rewarding undertaking. I am so grateful and feel very lucky that we actually found our cats and that someone cared enough to look after them and contact us, I thought I could provide that safe haven too. Also now after telling one of my animal loving cat friends what I am doing, she is becoming a cat fosterer too it's catching on!

Lily a 7¾ yr old spayed DSH female with Greenish eyes
Lush Black fur, light patch of White hair on chest,

Hi Sue Black Lily Cat - missing from  Barchester Road, Harrow Weald,  Middlesex 25 January 2008 - SHE'S HOME - 5 weeks and 6 days, 1 newspaper article, countless sightings, 9 missing pet websites, 400 letterbox fliers and 60 lamp posts later..... and then some.... Got a call tonight...  lady about a mile away had been feeding friendly black female moggy for a few weeks (much to the annoyance of her tabby tom)... she saw my posters on lamp post... managed to befriend said moggy enough to get it into her home... was Lily.... who is now chilling and not up for being grounded but sadly will be for a few days...  I knew Lily was ok someplace... think positive... your cat is as strong as you are and stronger!!!! So want to thank you at mymoggy and the other missing pet sites on the world wide web....you kept me going when I felt so lost, alone and helpless... Lily won't be found if she doesn't want to be found!"  She's always been a real free spirit and think she's home now simply because she'd had enough of travelling... .... the thing I find really sad is that there are soooo many pets that go missing and soooo few pets that are found... weird.... where do they go!

Barbara X

Let's use Barbara's comment to spur us on to accept the challenge - your cat is unique, he / she is the only one out there matching your description - someone somewhere know something - go find that someone !

Cheers Sue  I am going to get Lily chipped - was meaning to but given she'd not disappeared before and seemed such a home loving loyal puss I just didn't get round to it.  Lesson well and truly learned.  Still don't understand why she went awol - maybe she just had an itch she needed to scratch... or maybe she was spooked...will never know.... I was very lucky to find her.
Special thanks to Geraldine, Bridgette and Paddy, the people who found and befriended her.  It was Paddy who saw my poster in a street next to his... he didn't have a pen so took the poster down... I can remember walking past the post thinking "you mean spirited person... tearing down my poster!"  There you go!
My family thought I was being obsessive after the 4th week... still going out all hours... delivering yet more fliers and posters... just had a gut feeling that she was ok but if she wasn't I still wanted to find out.  I met quite a few people in my travels and phoned them all yesterday to let them know she was home safe and to thank them for taking the time to contact me.  They were all surprised to get my call... and were so pleased to learn of the positive outcome.  I think people are more likely to help other's if they receive some kind of thanks for a good deed or kind gesture.  All it takes is a thank you. Thanks Sue Kindest regards

c2263

Eric a 6yr old Neutered DSH male with Green eyes
Ginger and white: Mostly ginger on top and white underneath. Tiny piece of right ear missing

Hi Sue
The best news ever! Eric is back with us safely. In fact he's sat on my knee while I'm typing this email as though he's never been gone.
Somehow or other in the four weeks and one day he's been missing he'd managed to get himself a couple of miles away from us but had luckily found a cat loving family just this last week.
They'd very kindly taken him in, fed him and phoned the RSPCA who then contacted us on the off chance that it might be him. We'd had a few possible sightings off him previously in the nearby area but none of them had been Eric.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I walked in and saw him sat there. I'd been almost too frightened to look for fear of disappointment.

This really has been an amazing experience for us. We've learnt so much about all the fantastic help there is out there for owners of lost and missing cats. Not only that but the incredible support and encouragement you all give. People have been so kind, it really has kept us going and believing that he would return.

What we would say to other owners is don't give up. Take on board all the advice you're given and follow it. Even if it leads to nothing immediately, at least you feel as though you're doing something positive. Talk to people. They are a good support and the more people know about your cat, the more chance you have of finding him/her (Eric became quite famous during his absence).

We don't know where he's been or what he's been up to but what matters to us most is knowing that he's safe and sound (and sleeping at the moment!). We can't begin to describe how it feels or how we would like to express our thanks to every single person and organisation that has helped us get our boy back.

Needless to say, we'll be getting Eric and our other cat microchipped and ID tagged (lesson learnt), so that hopefully we'll never have to experience sleepness nights again.

On a personal note to you Sue, I didn't have a clue about your website when Eric first went missing. Having become very familiar with it over the last month we'd just like to say that it's a fantastic site offering so much help and advice. Everybody should know about My Moggy and our part we'll do our best to promote the site to people.

Many thanks once again.

We got a call from a woman called Audrey who had only just seen our posters (after a month!) and had been seeing Joplin in her garden for a few weeks. Audrey only lives a couple of minutes away from the vet, and had made her garden cat-friendly with low wooden huts full of blankets, and a cat flap in the shed door. Joplin had been stealing Audrey's cat's food and looking for mice and leftovers in the garden next door every evening.
We hope she was sheltering in Audrey's garden for most of her adventure as the weather had been terrible. Joplin came out to us when we went to the garden, and she did let us feed and stroke her but kept dashing back into one of the wooden huts and crying to us.
Finally Matt managed to grab her but she was so thin that he couldn't keep hold of her scruff, and she managed to bite him a lot, all over his hands. He hung on to her and we bundled her into a duvet case and took her to the vet where they had a cursory look at her and sent her home... She's back to normal weight and behaviour now, and although she doesn't play and sleep with her brother as much as she used to they do get on fine. Linus had been getting more cuddly and vocal, which I understand is common when a sibling leaves, and he's now gone into his shell again... just when we were making headway and he had enjoyed his first lap session!
Thanks for all your advice, look forward to seeing Joplin on your "found" page, which helped me so much when we were looking for her.

The moral is... flyer EVERYWHERE as people sometimes just don't look at posters. We hadn't put a flyer through Audrey's door and if we had we might have had a much shorter wait!

Hope all is well with you

Thanks also to the Rescuers who work tirelessly to find owners or provide forever homes for their charges - Well done.
