'Orfeo' 29th Dec.2006 - 1st Jan.2007
c1415

(an Orfeo lookalike)

Orfeo a 2yr old nuetered DSH Male with Amber eyes.
White with Ginger - Lots of white on face and underbelly
Hi Sue, happily this is to tell you Orfeo has come home safe and sound. He was walking down the street as large as life at 6 this morning when my husband came home from work. For the second night I hadn't been to bed, imagine my relief when he walked in carrying Orfeo. He was covered in dirt and oil so I assume he had been in a garage or shed he seemed none the worse for his incarceration apart from seeming rather miffed that we had not rescued him sooner! He turned his nose up at the food I offered but relented when I offered a bowl of Xmas cream. He then had a prolonged grooming session and a nap, but then demanded to be let out again! Now I am getting loads of calls from kind people who are seeing him in their gardens! It is nice to know people are concerned and do take notice of the flyers. Your site and your help and advice are invaluable. Thank you and all the other concerned people out there. I will spread the word about your website. Many thanks and a very Happy New Year.      Regards Sandra Moon.

'Henry aka Monkey' missing since 1st Jan.2007
c1432

Henry aka Monkey a 1yr old neutered & chipped (twice) DSH Classic Tabby male with Yellow eyes
Hello Sue,   Fantastic news!!  Monkey turned up at 3am last night miowing his head off!  We spent an hour with him, fussing over him and giving him lots of tuna!  Our other cat didn't seem best pleased though.  Henry is a bit thinner and he has been drinking an awful lot of water since he has been back - so we think he may have been shut in somewhere as it has been raining for two days here and I am sure he would have helped himself from a puddle if he was just off on an adventure.
We feel a bit like we over-reacted now, but out of this we have discovered you and your website.  We can't thank you enough for the time you have spent helping us and for all your advice.  We will certainly recommend you to anyone we know who has lost their cat.
Thank you so much Sue.

c1441

George a 7yr old neutered & chipped DSH male with Green eyes. Large White and Ginger cat.
It is with great sadness that I report that George was found today dead on the railway line.
The only consolation is that he clearly hadn't suffered and would not have been aware of what was happening.
I thank you so much for all your support.
On another note the only reason they reported this to me is that one of the workers went to get a paper where I had an advert.  They said they would have contacted the owner had he had a name tag on so just to advise everyone who has a cat to get a name tag on their cats.Goodbye George we will miss you.

c1515

'Barny' a DSH male found in the area of Church View...
Ginger & White, White on face, White paws, White saddle on back.
Hi Sue !!
Happy news ! We found his owner :-)
He had gone missing from Darlington some 8 miles away, turns out the lady split with her partner the day she last saw the cat... she had reported him to 2 local rescues, put him in the paper and phoned all the vets in Darlington - but because we are so far away none of them had put two and two together when I reported a 'found'..... until I insisted one of the vets contacted the lady just in case as the day he went was the night he arrived here, and we had a feeling he had arrived in a car, not wandered into the village....

So anyway - despite the fact it could have been a lot worse for him, he is now safe and sound back with his family :-)

Brilliant job done Julie. You accepted the challenge & got the result, Thanks too to the vets that followed up on Julie's suggestion...

Hi Sue Good news on this one. Storm was found this morning by her owner sitting on the pavement a couple of streets away. She had been well looked after, quite chubby now, so the owner thinks that she was taken on Christmas Day as a few teenage lads were seen hanging about in their close and probably then dumped her a few streets away. She is home again now with her sister Savannah (who is not that impressed because Storm smells strange I guess after nearly two months away from home). Both will be chipped in the very near future, the owner has promised me. Many thanks for your help.

Hi Sue   Good news, our "found" advert in the local newspaper produced a call from the owner and Valentine, the old boy, will be going back to them this evening when I get home from work.
His real name is Pepsi, he is 15 years old and suffers with hyperthyroidism (we know, the tests our vet did proved that).  I will give strict instructions to the owners tonight to fit him with a collar and contact telephone number as no doubt people will continue to report him as he is extremely skinny and eats like a horse, both symptoms of the condition he suffers with.
Many thanks again for your help on this one.

'Ebby' missing since 7th Feb.2007
c1553

'Ebby' a 7yr old spayed & chipped female with Blue eyes
A short haired Exotic Persian - Chocolate Point ie chocolate/ cream coat. chocolate face and paws. Big blue eyes.
Dear Sue   Thank you for your emails. Just to let you know that I got Ebby back today.
Someone who saw one of my leaflets rang me to say that she had been seen yesterday afternoon. He described her exactly. I went to the same area she was seen and walked along calling her name.
I went out again to the same area an hour later with more leaflets and posters. I then saw her on someones drive. She disappeared into the side of one of the houses, and I was able to get to her by knocking on that houses particular door. She was sheltering in this persons garage. Apparently she had been coming here regularly, but they did not know that she was lost. I think by looking at the fences around this garden Ebby would have found it difficult to get back to me as she is not very agile and the fences are high.
Glad to have her back now, but think it best if I don't let her out at all anymore.
Thank you for your tips, as they got me motivated to look again.
Also, I really did believe that the foxes had got to her, so your statement re : the foxes dispelled that for me and gave me hope.
All the best

'Wacho' missing since 1st Jan.2007 - 19th Feb.2007

Wacho a 7yr old DLH spayed female with Yellow eyes.
Black medium to long haired coat with brownish tint. Bushy tail.
Hi Sue
Just to let you know that Wacho has been found today and is now at home eating as much as she possibly can, making up for lost time!!!
She was spotted about a mile away from my home in a greenhouse by another cat lover. She is a little thin and frightened, but I am sure she will be fine in a day or 2. Not bad for being away from home for 7 weeks!
Thank you and your website. Just goes to show that we should never give up in the search and posters always help. I made as many people aware of my missing cat as I probably could and eventually it paid off.
I wish everybody as much luck as I have just had in finding my cat.
Regards   Nicola

Sue, Thank You so much for all your encouragement and support!  I am pleased to say that Georgie was found by a very lovely lady who was walking her dog with a neighbour and had seen our posters.  She stayed with him until I was able to get there and I coaxed him out from under the car.  He was only a couple of doors down from where the man had seem him on Thursday.  She has asked that the reward be donated to a local rescue centre.  So a really happy ending.  We are all so pleased and I have got to know another few of my neighbours, we have promised to stay in touch as we live so close!

'Grish' missing since 4th Mar.2007
c1615

Grish a 3yr old neutered male xBengal with Pale Green eyes
Grish is home with the help of a psychic who gave me directions and my grandson who helped me distribute leaflets.  We set off with a bundle of leaflets and posters, a lady in her bungalow was sure she had seen him a few days ago, this was encouraging and half a mile further, down a concrete lane, two women in an office had seen him eating a mouse that morning.  They said he had been around for a few days running about in the fields and in the little wood ,behind the building, called Cat's Copse.  It was suggested I look in their car park. As I called he came, mewing plaintively, from under a car.  I picked him up cuddled and kissed him he was fine then as my grandson came near he panicked then another man appeared, he was terrified of men.  I held him tight in my coat and started to walk the mile back to my car.  Many thanks to the stranger who gave us a lift back to the car where his tonkinese father, Tonic, was waiting for him - after kisses, head butts, lots of smelling, licking and a couple of slaps from Tonic, we drove home with a slimmer but very happy Grish.  He ate six sachets of food and some biscuits. We drank champagne and Grish fell asleep on Mike's lap content & purring, the labrador came over and nestled her muzzle on his tummy, she is so happy to have her playmate home.
Thank you for your help and I am pleased to send you a happy ending to one story

c1163

Phoebe a 4yr old spayed & chipped DSH female with Yellow eyes. Brown & Black stripey Tabby wearing her Gold collar with ID tag
HI Sue,
PHOEBE'S BACK!!!!! We are overjoyed! As you know I posted lots more flyers and posters a fortnight ago as Phoeb's collar was found not far from home on a driveway. We got a call last night to say that there was a cat matching Phoebe's description sitting under a parked car in the same road. I raced up there but could not find her at first. then some kind residents helped me to look and we saw her on top of a shed. She was very nervous and kept darting along fences in different gardens, meowing loudly! She then crossed the road and ran up a wall. all I could think of doing was put some biscuits out and hope that would entice her to come down. This worked and I just sat with her for a couple minutes getting reacquainted and trying to regain her trust. I
was almost crying with happiness by then just to see her after 6
months! She was nuzzling up to my hand, so I think she realised who I was. Anyway, a kind lady brought a cat carrier over and I put her into the car. She's been reunited with her sister Izzy at long last. I am utterly amazed that we've found her and so grateful to all the lovely people who helped.
One clear message is that flyers and posters DO work!
Please could you include Phoebe in the "home safe" section?
Thank you so much for all your support and kindness and for all your wise words, for which I will be eternally grateful,
Best wishes,
Emma, Phoebe & Izzy x x

Asparagus

Asparagus an 8yr old neutered & chipped DLH male with Golden eyes He has Ginger Tabby fur, bushy tail - light ginger at tip.
Sue
I can’t believe it – Asparagus returned half an hour ago. I’d just woken up and was about to put on the radio to get me through the rest of the night when he jumped on my bed at 12.30 am. I thought I must still be dreaming! But no there he was as large as life! He looks none the worse for wear apart from his tail which is somewhat matted and looks like it’s been dipped in oil. And boy does he smell – as if he’s been in a cat colony with a large dose of cat mint at the ready! Rumpleteaser walked out in disgust! He’s eaten two small tins of Tuna, had a good drink of water and is now curled up asleep in the cat bed under the radiator in my little office as I write to you.
Thank you so much for your advice – putting out sweaty socks (in my case Footsies), vacuum cleaner contents etc - and for maintaining such a wonderful web site with all the ‘found’ entries which have kept me going. I’ll let the neighbourhood and all the cat rescue places etc. contacted so far know he’s safe and sound. My advice to all – just don’t give up hope, even in your darkest hours of despair. Keep spreading the word with flyers, searches, talking to neighbours and keep casting your net wider and wider.

c1583

Josie a 5yr old spayed DSH female with Yellow eyes
Black and White - Mainly Black but with White chest and under chin. White tips on front paws and white bootie type socks on rear legs.
Hello Sue,
Great news we have found our cat after a month of looking. We put an advert in the local newspaper and had a few phone calls from different people. Its nice to see how many people out there care about animals and got in touch with us. After seeing about 6 different cats that weren't Josie we had a phone call on Friday night and a woman said she saw a cat that was the spitting image of Josie but she lived about 15/20 miles aways. We had a look and the cat had disapeared so we had a chat with a few of the neighbours and later that day had a phone call back saying she was in the neighbours wood shed. We went down again and lo and behold there was Josie.
It was amazing that Josie was still alive because this was in the middle of the countryside. It was so lucky that the woman rang because it was only because someone had left that local paper in this womans house that she saw the advert. We can only imagine the long journey and the perils that Josie went through but so glad that she is alive and well. She lost about a third of her body weight but is now eating and drinking again in the warmth and comfort of our house. Josie's brother Leo is now looking after her too.
We are so gratefull for all the help and support that everyone have given us.
Thanks alot
Justin, Karen, Josie and Leo
